Item Description

3 Bottles of Mixed Wine:

(1) Bottle of 2015 Full Moon Red - Innovative and rule-breaking winemaking has made Paso Robles the “wild west” of Californian wines. Midnight created the Full Moon by putting Paso’s most famous grapes together, Zinfandel and Syrah. With quaffable style and affordable price point, the Full Moon has become our number one seller.

Syrah is a deeply colored wine with a plush palate and speckled with pepper. Zinfandel is a medium-bodied wine with high acid and jammy-like red fruit. When we put these two together, something magical happened – a harmonious blend of structure, color, acid, and fruit.

(1) Bottle of 2018 Chardonnay - Hints of yellow apple and lime peel meld with honeysuckle for an inviting nose. Meanwhile, lemon curd, vanilla and white peach notes accompany a well-rounded mouthfeel with a smooth finish.

(1) Bottle of Mare Nectaris - 91 Points from Wine Enthusiast! Bright violet. Spice-accented black and blue fruit scents pick up a smoky accent as the wine opens up. Juicy, nicely concentrated boysenberry and bitter cherry flavors are sweetened by a subtle vanilla flourish. Shows good energy and clarity on a long, subtly tannic finish that echoes the smoke and vanilla notes.

About:

Welcome to Midnight Cellars Winery, home to the Hartenberger family and their small production of award-winning Paso Robles wines. The 28 acre estate vineyard is situated in the newly established Willow Creek District, known for its strong marine influence, mountainous landscape and calcareous soils.  This climate, topography and soil composition create an environment for growing quality, low-yield, sustainably farmed grapes.  Planted on south facing slopes are Bordeaux varietals including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec; terraced is eight acres of Zinfandel and a five acre lot of Chardonnay.  Known for their true to character straight varietals, Midnight Cellars also produces highly acclaimed blends, including the flagship Full Moon Red, and reserves including Mare Nectaris and Zenith Estate Cuvee.

The Midnight adventure began on a family vacation to Northern California.  As father and son were sipping wine and overlooking a beautiful valley, the casual comment was made: “Hey Dad, you should buy a winery when you retire, and we’ll run it for you!” As fate would have it two years later, when Dad’s retirement became a reality, the winery idea resurfaced. The family sold their Chicago homes and converged on Paso Robles where they started their dream venture, Midnight Cellars Winery.  In 1995 they purchased their 160 acre ranch in Paso Robles, which is now home to three generations of Hartenbergers.

As a family owned and operated winery for twenty four years, Midnight Cellars prides itself in providing fine wines at enjoyable prices.  Join us in our Tasting Room and you’ll be greeted by our knowledgeable staff, taking you through a flight of wines that reflect the terroir and rich fruit of Paso Robles.  Please peruse the website, take note of upcoming events and learn about the unbeatable offerings of Midnight’s wine club!
