Item Description

Two bottles of fine wine from Michael Davis and Art Williams, local collectors. Michael is one of the principals of Hart Davis Hart, the country's leading auctioneer of fine and rare wine, and has supported NCA over the years with auction donations. Enjoy these two bottles from Bordeaux and the Northern Rhone Valley - a 2015 Malartic Lagraviere from Bordeaux, a dry, crisp and refreshing white, and a 2016 St Joseph from the esteemed Domaine Jean-Louis Chave.  Both wines are highly rated and can be consumed now, or held for 5-10 years or more if properly cellared. Value: $150. Buy now before the tariffs kick in! 2015 Malartic Lagraviere Blanc 95 points James Suckling  Very vibrant lemons and limes with tropical fruit. Hints of mangoes and melon. The palate has silky, smooth fruit with seamless build and flow. Impressive. 85% sauvignon and 15% Semillon. Drink or hold.   (2/2018)

95 points Wine Enthusiast  Smoothly textured, this fruity wine offers acidity and ripe apricot flavors. The zesty, mineral texture will allow it to develop well, promising of great fruit and texture in the future. (RV)   (4/2018)

2016 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Saint-Joseph
94 points Vinous

Opaque ruby. Powerful, mineral-tinged aromas of blackberry, boysenberry, candied flowers, olive and licorice, along with a smoky overtone that builds in the glass. Stains the palate with sweet, energetic black/blue fruit, violet pastille and spicecake flavors that show outstanding purity and mineral-drive. The spice and floral notes repeat emphatically on a strikingly long, lively finish that's shaped by velvety, even tannins. (JR)   (9/2019)

92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

I tasted several parcels that will go into the 2016 Saint Joseph, rating them all in this range. All were distinctive in their own ways, from the perfumed, floral notes and elegance of Les Challeys to the almost jammy cherry flavors of Les Oliviers and the dark-fruited precision of Le Clos.
