Item Description

There are many portraits of Dobermans out there but this one is an original by artist Cheri Dye. It was created using a unique technique which gives a 3D sculptured look to the portrait by a process called needle felting. It is amazing the level of detail possible in this Doberman portrait. Wool felt is tangled wool and it is probably the oldest known textile still in use today. Needle felting is a process which uses wool felt and special needles to apply it to and through a base – in this case artist’s canvas. Given the myriad shades Cheri used, the detail and shading is truly beautiful! Cheri chose to surround her Doberman with Royal Purple which just makes the Doberman just come alive in its framing purple halo! The portrait measures 11x14 inches and is signed by the artist in the right rear corner and again on the back of the canvas. The portrait can be hung as is on the stretched canvas frame or in a shadow box frame to keep it dust-free. It can be gently cleaned if you choose unframed. Cheri has done commissioned works from pictures of dogs in her studio and they all have that very life-like look. Add a life-like portrait of our favorite breed to your gallery!

This needle-felted Doberman portrait was donated to SND by the artist, Cheri Dye, to raise funds for Dobermans in need – and that’s exactly what this portrait will do for DPCA’s help for Dobermans in Rescues.
