Item Description
This luxurious ruana makes a stylish statement with an eye-catching pattern of glowing circles. It recalls a lustrous silk textile in The Met collection that was woven during Japan's Momoyama period (1573 - 1615) and was worn as a striking priest's robe (shichijo).
This beautiful Japanese robe serves as the inspiration for this distinctive ruana design. The decorative style that is the hallmark of Momoyama art had its inception in the early 16th century and lasted well into the 17th. Much art of this period was characterized by an opulent and dynamic style, with gold lavishly applied to architecture, furnishings, paintings, and garments.
Wool, modal and silk. Dry clean only. 61''L x 51 1/2''W. The Met Store.
Item Special Note
The item can be shipped (winner pays shipping and insurance) or can be picked up in Manhattan.
