Item Description
Grown in NTBG's South Shore Garden Nursery, this cycad is native to South Africa. Very much desired in landscaping as one of the prized "blue" cycads. Leaves are prickly, and the plant is very slow growing in full sun. It is drought tolerant and makes a good specimen plant in the landscape.
The climate-controlled fern lab and greenhouse facilities at the Conservation and Horticulture Center in the McBryde Garden currently produce over 10,000 plants per year.
