Note from the Artist: My portfolio focuses on social environment and anthropology in the form of expressionism and portraiture. I highlight figures, groups, and social issues that others should be informed about in the world as I am doing with this piece, “Ntombizodwa”—an example of a middle aged woman of the African tribe, the Ndebele. The Ndebele are a people with a distinct way of painting their homes in vibrant, geometric patterns as well as residing in Zimbabwe. The women often adorn themselves in large quantities of accessories as a testament to their marital status as seen here in “Ntombizodwa”.
Bio: Alumni of New World School of the Arts, Zipporah Michel is a Haitian-American expressionist artist residing in south Florida.
Her tribal inspired works have been selected for the Aya Arts Project building installation curated by Tam English, CEO of the Housing Authority of the City of Fort Lauderdale (HACFL), with Niki Lopez of “What’s Your Elephant?” and Niki Creative. International exhibitors, Global Art Agency, extended an invitation to market and feature Michel’s works, focused on Egyptian nobles and deities, in the Agency’s 2021 Volume IV Art Collector’s Book.
She is also a Board Member of The Empowerment Network Global (T.E.N. Global, Inc.) Incorporated as an Artist in Residence, illustrating works to educate the youth of the African diaspora of the roots of Haitian culture. While continuing her artistic practices, Michel is currently finishing her degree at Miami Dade College in Aviation Administration to later serve as an Air Traffic Controller for the U.S. Military.
