Item Description

Discover Magic on Land and in the Sky in Northern Iceland (Europe) for Six Days & Five Nights in a Two-Bedroom Lodge for Four, including a Private Northern Lights Tour and a Whale Watching Boat Tour (Land Only). Immerse yourself in the wild and immense landscape of North Iceland during a stay in a two-bedroom two-bathroom Scandinavian-style countryside lodge, about 50 minutes from Reykjavik, and discover the unique charm and majesty of nature. North Iceland offers a wide choice of experiences for travelers, regardless of when you visit the country - but the Arctic North is superb in the wintertime, when the peaceful snow accentuates the black lava fields, and the black evening sky may be suddenly disturbed by dancing, flickering veils of light green, white or red light! Experience the Northern Lights for yourself on a private tour, and then set sail for a fascinating whale watching boat tour! In North Iceland, you'll find the landscape has been formed by the sheer forces of nature. Run-offs caused by subglacial volcanic eruptions shaped Ásbyrgi canyon and Jökulsárgljúfur canyon, where the most powerful waterfall in Europe, Dettifoss, falls nearby. Glacial rivers that are now popular for whitewater rafting. Rock formations on the shores like Hvítserkur, waterfalls like Goðafoss and canyons like Kolugljúfur will all make sure that visitors leave in awe, wondering how the next nature stop can possibly be more amazing than the last one. The magical Northern Lights can be likened to a celestial ballet of light dancing across the night sky and are among the most spectacular experiences on the earth, an atmospheric phenomenon that lights up the night sky and is only visible on clear and crisp nights in certain parts of the world! With an expert guide you will head out to search for and experience firsthand this incredible all-natural light show on your private tour! Also known as Aurora Borealis, the Northern Lights occur high above the surface of the earth where the atmosphere has become extremely thin, at an altitude of 100-250 km. This phenomenon occurs in the outermost layer of the atmosphere, created by electrically charged particles that make the thin air shine, not unlike a fluorescent light. The Northern Lights experience is only available from September to April, and during a five-night stay there is a 90% chance that you'll see them! In the other months, this activity will be replaced by a private Golden Circle Tour including a private guide and the entrance fee for the Kerid crater. You will visit three of Iceland's most well-known sights: the Geysir geothermal area, Gullfoss waterfall and Thingvellir National Park, the only place on Earth where the two different tectonic plates of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge are visible above ground and not deep underwater! You'll also spend some time on the ocean during a three-hour whale watching boat tour with a professional crew experienced in finding and observing Icelandic wildlife! Getting this close to the majestic whales is a magical experience. Watching whales has become one of the most common activities among foreign visitors to North Iceland. In fact, Húsavík and Eyjafjörður were among the first places in the country that offered whale-watching excursions. The number of species, along with favorable weather and sea conditions, make North Iceland one of the best Icelandic areas for spotting whales. The experience becomes complete by seeing dolphins and minke, humpback or even blue whales play beside one of the particularly appealing oakwood boats used exclusively in North Iceland. Your trip for four includes: 6 days/5 nights accommodations in a two-bedroom lodge, Private Northern Lights tour, Whale watching tour, Final cleaning and utilities, Concierge service. Travel package is non-refundable and subject to availability. Certificates/gift cards cannot be replaced. Passport required for travel outside the U.S. The Northern Lights experience operates from September to April. The Northern Lights experience will be replaced by a private Golden Circle Tour including private guide and entrance fee for Kerid crater from May through August. Lodge may be substituted with equal or similar accommodations. A minimum 30-day advance reservation is required. Travel is valid for 24 months from the date of issue. Cancellation prior to arrival will be subject to forfeiture of reservations and funds.
