Item Description
Over 30 percent of the pottery in Mata Ortiz breaks during firing. However, what is broken is not lost. Mata Ortiz sends the shards to Taxco, the silver making capital of Mexico, where Agustin Torres Beltran, a Nahuatl Indian hand forms a setting from .950 silver to fit each shard perfectly. The result is a timeless and original piece of jewelry. From Western National Parks Association.
