Item Description

"A Relaxing Morning Watching a Swan" by Peggy A. Farrell

Medium: Acrylic

Size: 19" x 8"

Artist Statement:

I have loved painting the Cods for the Festival of the Arts. Last year I was recovering from a fall, and could not do a cod. It was the first one I missed, so I was really looking forward to doing one in 2023, The painting is called "A Relaxing Morning Watching a Swan". The scene is loosely based on a photograph I took looking across Beacon Street.

Artist Biography:

After early retirement I decided to start a new career taking art lessons from Mary Field. My friend introduced me to Bob Sinclair, an accomplished photographer, who re-animated my interest in photography. After taking lessons from Bob, I quickly learned that it was a lot easier to carry a camera and a tripod than an easel, chair, paints, and canvas. Bob introduced me to the world of thirds and composition, how to "create" a scene as opposed to just taking a photograph. Now the main body of my work is landscape photography. I have exhibited in many North Shore and New Hampshire art shows and have been the winner of several awards. I am a member of the Swampscott Arts, Marblehead Festival of the Arts, photographer member of the Marblehead Arts Association, and Little Harbor Art Gallery and Studios.
