JILL (ZIMMERMAN) HEAVNER lives in Osceola, IN and was greatly inspired by the art work of her family. Her great-grandfather, Arthur E. Hartig and his daughters, Beatrice Zimmerman and Genevieve Toth were widely acclaimed professional artists and charter members of The Northern Indiana Artists (NIA).
Jill has been known to use any of the mediums but oil painting is her passion. She paints mainly from life but takes photos to use as well. She says, “I find that when I use my own photos I feel free to use more imagination and to move things around for a more balanced composition. Using photos I’ve personally taken brings back the feelings and emotion I felt at the time I took them.” She loves to paint architecture and has specialized in painting home portraits. Another dimension of Jill’s art is seen in her antique window paintings. These can be seen in her Etsy store “1HeavnCreations@Etsy.com”.
She has received several awards for her paintings, including a Judges Award for “Winter Sun” (2007 oil painting, a Merit Award for “Dad’s Marbles” (2012), for “Star Magnolias” (2014), for “Left Behind” (2015) and “A Little Bit of Spring” (2016).
Work in Permanent Public Collections: The Osceola United Methodist Church, WSBT Television Station (South Bend), Offices of attorneys Blackburn & Green (Mishawaka).
Jill’s art illustrations are published in a book of poetry, “The Pugilist” written by her father, Jack Zimmerman.
