From Juris:

The Yoga tradition teaches us that things in this world are real (satkara). When I hurt myself, it really hurts. The ancient Yogi's also teach us that things are constantly changing (parinama). Sometimes the pain we feel recedes, or may even pass. We can clearly see that we are all, constantly changing, in some way. Day by day, moment by moment, we change. Unfortunately, I am unable to reverse or stop this process of changing. Yet, I can, in some ways, consciously and directly  influence the course of my future. I can improve my physical condition, with exercise and movement, so my journey is less painful. I can also improve my physiological, neurological and cognitive function. I can even set a long-term trajectory towards lifelong wellness, emotional stability and fulfill my own  life's purpose. Yoga shows us the way.

I'VE BEEN PRACTICING YOGA FOR A WHILE

I began practicing yoga in 1993. In 1997 I was certified by Gary Kraftsow of the American Viniyoga Institute ( AVI ) to teach asana, Pranayama and chanting in the yoga tradition of his teacher TKV Desikachar. Since then I've completed AVI's three year training course in the application of yoga as a therapeutic process for managing acute and chronic conditions. As a faculty assistant for AVI I help with training and developing teachers in the living Viniyoga tradition.

I've been able to directly influence my life, in a positive way, using Yoga tools handed down from my Teacher's Teacher, in an unbroken "living" lineage (sampradaya). Yoga has helped me manage a severe back-injury, increased my breath-threshold capacity, improved my physiological and neurological function, improved my memory and helped me understand the impermanence of my own brief life here.

I'm honored to share, with You, the accurate transmission of Yoga, in a simple, uncluttered and traditional manner. I feel great joy, helping clients reduce suffering and instill positive habits, so we can move through our lives with greater authenticity and happiness.
