Karole Nicholson attended RISD studying graphic and advertising design. She currently works in mixed media and collage engaging an abstracted, contemporary approach to expressing her spirit on canvas. Texture, a gentle palette and an abstract view of the environment are the components that draw her into developing each painting. She exhibits her work at the Providence Art Club, AAM, Next Door Gallery, Gallery Twist and the Pawtucket Arts Collaborative.
"At the Edge" is painted on canvas using collage, mark making tools, acrylic glazing and layering techniques. This method of applying medium suggests depth and texture while allowing spontaneous outcomes. With many years of painting the landscape, Ms. Nicholson often calls on memory to bring her to the place from which her paintings develop.
