Item Description

Mixed media

24" x 24" x 1.5"

Karole Nicholson attended RISD studying graphic and advertising design. She currently works in mixed media and collage engaging an abstracted, contemporary approach to expressing her spirit on canvas. Texture, a gentle palette and an abstract view of the environment are the components that draw her into developing each painting. She exhibits her work at the Providence Art Club, AAM, Next Door Gallery, Gallery Twist and the Pawtucket Arts Collaborative.

Hovering between the representational and abstracted, "Cloud Forest" celebrates our precious woodlands and beyond; as the trees venture outside the canvas and the canvas embraces the greater non objective view of the landscape. Using shape and color as an orientation point, this mixed media painting clearly called for moments of bright, transparent layers using hand pulled gel prints and painted collage papers to meet this vision.
