Laura White Carpenter is a Providence RI-based artist who has been honored with recognition in a variety of media: sculpture, mixed media decorative and functional pieces, painting and photography. In recent years, her work has been accepted into nationally recognized juried exhibits throughout the US. She holds a degree in art therapy and works daily as an occupational therapist, using art to connect hospitalized patients with their individual healing journeys.
Pit firing is the original method for baking clay that dates back nearly 30,000 years ago. This process is done typically in a hole in the ground, or a pit, pots are placed in the pit and burned. Pit firing is an atmospheric process where all of the colors and patterns are derived from the process. The artist applied seaweed and feathers during the firing which resulted in distinct color variation and shadows.

This item can be shipped or picked up at the Attleboro Arts Museum from November 8th – 11th, 2023. The Museum is open Tuesday - Saturday from 10am-5pm. The winning bidder is responsible for all shipping and handling costs. The artist retains all reproduction and copyrights.
