Item Description
Watercolor
12" x 16'' x 1''
Jamie Derr is a Wellesley College graduate, musician and artist whose style borders both realism and impressionism. Painting in watercolor, oil and acrylic, she recently displayed a solo exhibition titled Art of Healing at the RI Health Department. Three pieces of her work will also be published in Soup Can Magazine. Jamie was recently accepted as a member of the Oil Painters of America and as an Artist Member at the RI Watercolor Society, where her painting was selected for the 2023 calendar.
After the loss of her father, Jaime wanted to do a nautical piece in a series of work that embodied both her ties to him while also reflecting her current mood. While still in the midst of summer, a lone boat is waiting for the next season, perhaps hoping for a better one. Jamie's father had won a scholastic art award for a nautical piece in high school, and this was a small way of honoring him.
