Per Wine.com Winemaker Notes
This stunning Cabernet Sauvignon puts forth a magnificent nose of licorice, graphite, with concentrated black fruits and hints of truffle and toasted oak. On the palate, its powerful yet elegant tannins engulf the senses with layers of dark cherry, blackberry, cassis and dark chocolate, culminating with a finish you’ll enjoy long after the final sip.Blend: 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc

Critical Acclaim

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - RP 98

The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate, which is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged 21 months in 70% new French oak, is a small cuvée of just under 400 cases. It is certainly a magnificent wine with an inky purple color and a beautiful nose of blueberry, boysenberry and other black fruits interwoven with white flowers, and backed up by fabulous concentration, a multilayered mouthfeel and tremendous purity. Lots of Cabernet’s classic cassis fruits are present and the new oak component pushed well to the background because of the extravagant concentration and richness. This wine comes from a vineyard slightly higher than the nearby Colgin Estate IX Vineyard, which it backs up to.

Wine Spectator - WS94

Deftly balanced, pure and rich, with a deep, vibrant, focused core of loamy earth—laced blackberry, blueberry, currant, cedary oak, mineral, graphite and anise. Begs for cellaring, as this is extremely young and vibrant. Best from 2019 through 2030. (Note: Having aged 10 years, this vintage is at it's peak!)

  BRAND

“It could be because of the chemistry of the team, the amazing site or something else. What I do know is from Ed and Deb Fitts the owners, Josh the vineyard manager, Juan Carlos the architect; they all are dedicated to work really hard for excellence. So, with my general philosophy of letting the grapes shine throughout our wines, plus having integrity, respect, friendship, gentle winemaking using gravity and lots of fun…”
-Philippe Melka, Winemaker

In 2005, after many visits to Northern California Wine Country, Ed decided to purchase land on the esteemed and exclusive Pritchard Hill. Several years later in 2012, the winery was completed by revered architect Juan Carlos Fernandez. Near that same time, the Fitts’ decided to bring on Phillipe Melka, one of the highly regarded winemakers in the valley. With all of these wonderfully combined aspects of the winery, it is easy to understand why Brand has become so high-end and elite. With the riper, high-elevation fruit from Pritchard Hill combined with the seamless integrated winemaking provided by Phillipe’s magical touch; the wines of Brand are greatly admired vintage after vintage with no end in sight.
