Item Description
Title: Rhinecliff Train Station 2
Print size:11 x 16
From the photographer:
My work as a Realtor takes me throughout the Hudson Valley where I find many opportunities to photograph the region that has been my home for forty five years. Everyday I observe something remarkable in our natural or manufactured world. Whenever possible I stop, and try to capture its essence in a picture.
Last year when I learned that the Rhinecliff train station would be undergoing a major renovation I decided to document the original architecture. I was familiar with my process of finding things striking and then photographing. It was a new and interesting experience to assign myself a specific subject, and then find something meaningful to photograph. I photographed the station for several weeks under various weather conditions, and at different times of day. My goal was to capture the decaying charm of bygone times, and the things that made it unique to Rhinebeck before it was gone.
