Flashes of Lightning, Thunder of Hooves "Flashes of Lightning, Thunder of Hooves" is one of Franks' largest and most detailed works.

"What I wanted here was the feeling . . . ," began McCarthy, but changed his mind mid-sentence."No, not the feeling...the sound, I wanted to get the sense of all that noise across." The artist had experienced a buffalo stampede first-hand.

"It's not an earthquake," he says, "boy, can you feel it! And you can hear it a mile away." As a six-foot wide Museum Edition Fine Art Canvas, Frank Mccarthy's "Flashes of Lightning, Thunder of Hooves" becomes a centerpiece of dynamic action in any room in which it hangs.

More about this piece:

We are proud to present a captivating triptych by the illustrious Western artist Frank C. McCarthy, titled "Flashes Of Lightning, Thunder Of Hooves." This stunning set of three prints is a vivid portrayal of the untamed spirit of the American West, capturing the raw power and dynamism of its landscapes and wildlife.

Each print in the series is a masterpiece of motion and emotion, with bison as the central figures — emblematic creatures of the plains, depicted with McCarthy's signature vigor and precision. The first piece sets the scene with a bison in solitary grace against a landscape divided by color and form, symbolizing the vast expanse of the prairie. The second portrays a warrior astride a horse, invoking the heritage and heart of Native American culture amidst an ethereal backdrop. The final piece in the series returns to the bison, standing before an American flag, a powerful juxtaposition of wildlife and national symbolism.

McCarthy's work is renowned for its historical accuracy, attention to detail, and a profound sense of movement — qualities that are on full display in this collection. The color palette is rich and earthy, evoking the varied textures of the American landscape, from the dusty plains to the misty mountains.

Each print is elegantly framed, complementing the artwork without overshadowing the brilliance of McCarthy's vision. Together, they form a narrative thread that is both a visual feast and a poignant reminder of America's majestic and rugged past.

This triptych is not merely a set of images; it is an invitation to journey through the heart of American folklore and the wild beauty of its natural world. It is an exceptional opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts of Western art to own a piece of McCarthy's legacy.
