Item Description
Queen Mary 1 was the first female to take the throne in 1553. She was the daughter of Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon. Her reign only lasted five years, but she will always be remembered as the first woman to inherit the throne of England.
This is an original portrait doll crafted in fine bisque porcelain. With brown eyes and auburn hair, she wears a burgundy velvet smock over an antique white brocade dress with a damask pattern. Hand sewn gold appliques adorn her dress which has a flat white Tudor collar trimmed in lace. She has pearl beads around her waist finished with a gold jewel set with a jet black stone. She wears a French style Tudor hood in burgundy velvet trimmed with lace.
