Inspired by Tems’ song Me & U, Dion dug into her Nigerian heritage and celebrated Tems who helped popularize afrobeats. Dion’s work has been exhibited in Ottawa’s first Black hair show titled Crépu: Our DNA by MAG x Hors Pair in 2023, and at the OAG’s 83 ‘Til Infinity exhibition from 2023 to 2024.
Inspirée de la chanson de Tems « Me & U », Dion est allée puiser dans ses racines nigérianes et met à l’honneur Tems, qui a contribué à la popularisation de l’afrobeats. Les œuvres de Dion ont fait partie de la première exposition d’art de cheveux afro d’Ottawa, Crépu : Our DNA, montée par MAG x Hors Pair en 2023, et de l’exposition de la GAO, Demain c’est loin, à l’affiche en 2023 et 2024.
Item Special Note
Dion Prints is a Haitian-Nigerian-Canadian self-taught photo-based artist living in Ottawa, ON. Her work is intended to exude a safe space for minorities and individuals with disabilities. She also explores individualism, which collides with her quest to self-discovery. To express herself, she includes scannography and collage, forming a new language.
Dion Prints est une photographe autodidacte Haïtienne-Nigériane-Canadienne résidant à Ottawa. Son travail vise à créer un espace sûr pour les minorités et les personnes handicapées. Elle explore également l’individualisme tout en s’immergeant dans la découverte de soi. Pour s'exprimer, elle utilise la scannographie et le collage, formant un nouveau langage.
