Genevieve Hartig Toth
Geni Toth was the youngest daughter of a very artistic family. Her father and two sisters, Beatrice and Katherine, were all well respected artists in the South Bend and Mishawaka communities. Mrs. Toth studied art under Emil Jacques, the head of Notre Dame's Art Department, as a teenager, and later at Ball State University. She returned to the area to teach art in the Penn-Harris-Madison and Mishawaka Schools, opening the art department at Penn High School. In 1972, Caspari Card Co. of New York accepted seventeen of her greeting card designs for printing. People were her favorite subjects, though she also enjoyed depicting flowers and landscapes. Like her sisters, Geni specialized in miniature paintings. She was a charter member of the Northern Indiana Artists and the St. Joseph Watercolor Society.
