Beatrice Hartig Zimmerman
The eldest daughter of the Hartig family of artists, Beatrice Hartig Zimmerman completed more than 283 painting in over 60 years. After studying at the commercial art school in Chicago, she began exhibiting and receiving numerous prizes for her artistic efforts. One of her top honors was being part of the Hoosier Salon and its first traveling exhibit to the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C. in 1949. Mrs. Zimmerman specialized in historically significant local landscapes and miniature paintings. In addition to her artistic endeavors, she worked for twenty years as a librarian in the Osceola branch of Mishawaka Penn Public Library and served as the pianist and organist at the Osceola Methodist Church for thirty years. She arranged art exhibts for MPPL's Spencer Gallery for several years following her retirement.
