About Kathy Sharpe
Kathy Sharpe was born in Chicago and raised in Winnetka, Illinois. Her education in art began at the Chicago Art Institute during grammar school. Her grandfather was a costume designer for the Vienna Opera, and her cousin is a well-known cartoonist and accomplished watercolorist.
Primarily an oil painter, inspired by nature and still life, Kathy took up watercolor in 1990 when her husband received the Nobel Prize in Economics. With extensive travel, watercolors became a portable and practical medium.
She has had thirty one-person shows, been included in forty juried shows, and participated in numerous group shows. Her work is included in private collections in Europe, Japan, and fifteen U.S. states. It has also been sold by Gumps, Nordstrom, and Nieman Marcus.
Twenty-four of her paintings have been reproduced on needlepoint canvas, and she is represented by DJ Designs in San Francisco.
