Item Description

Collage, beeswax, reclaimed CD

10" x 10" x 1"

Katelynn O'Brien holds a degree in Graphic Design and has pursued a lifelong passion for art and creativity in all its various forms. Her mediums of choice are soft pastel and mixed media, with an interest in reclaimed materials. Katelynn has exhibited her work at the AAM and various local art associations. She recently earned 3rd Place at the Wickford Art Association's "Creatures Great & Small" juried exhibition, and Best in Show at the Foxboro Art Association's Spring exhibition.

"Tea-Kettle in the Morning," the Carolina Wren, was created after the artist found a box of software installation CDs in her attic. The small circular shape drew her in and inspired the creation of "Fleeting Moments on Disc," a series of small artworks that layer collage, found materials, and simple line drawings onto CDs with beeswax. The series captures fleeting moments, impressions of birds in nature, and reminds the viewer that even a small, individual act can help preserve our environment.
