Item Description

Drypoint Etching

18" x 22" x 1"

Lisa Granata holds a BFA degree from the Maryland Institute College of Art. She has an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art and a year's study in Florence Italy at S.A.C.I. Lisa instructs studio art courses at Lasell University, teaches studio art classes at the AAM to students of all ages and serves on the AAM's collections and exhibitions committee. Her art exhibition record includes galleries and museums on the East Coast in the Midwest and in Italy.

"Lady Justice" reflects the moral judicial system of the Supreme Court in the US. Lady Justice uses her scales for balance, symbolizing the measure of a case's support and opposition. Granata used the process of drypoint printmaking. She scratched lines into a plastic matrix, which created a burr to hold the ink. Then she inked the plate with a Akua and printed on paper, using a press to transfer the ink onto the paper. There are a total of 5 copies in this run of original prints.
