Item Description

Oil

12" x 24" x 1.5"

Ronna Pate's focus on Western-themed art is inspired by her grandfather, a cowboy in his younger days, with whom she shared a special bond as a child. Pate is fascinated by the trappings of cowboy living and working. Her paintings are not destined solely for rustic decor, she also aims to create paintings with a playful, lighthearted treatment that can bring lively interest to a space. Everyone deserves to enjoy the Western experience and allow it to brighten their lives, spirits and surroundings! During the 1800's, covered wagons were used to transport wares, possessions and people all around the American West.

At a distance, the canvas covers resembled the sails on a schooner. That's why they were called prairie schooners. The old covered wagon in the painting appears to have reached its final destination long ago and has been sitting out on the plains near a fence that is just as old. The mountains in the background show the land going on forever.
