Item Description

Oil

14” x 11” x 1"

Jamie Derr, an award-winning exhibiting artist member at the Providence Art Club and artist collaborator at the Collaborative in Warren, RI, is passionate about portraits and nocturnes. Jamie recently displayed her portraits at the “Human Canvas” exhibit at DeBlois Gallery. Besides capturing people, Jamie is drawn to exploring the contrast between nocturnes of the early Industrial Revolution period and modern-day. You can learn more about her journey at www.jamiederrart.com.

The bright neon lights of a bygone era refuse to dim. In contrast to the beauty of natural lighting, the artificial lighting speaks to the viewer with a powerful opposition to the darkness. The artist attempted to capture the intensity of the scene in this nocturne oil painting.
