“Sacred Double Lotus”, a 16” x 20” giclee by Sabina Kwan Hudson, captures the beauty and mystique of a double lotus flower. The lotus flower symbolizes compassion. Often a double lotus represents love, happiness and good fortune, a welcoming art piece for any home.

Born and raised in Hong Kong (British Colony then), Sabina received a Business Degree from Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 1970. She worked in various positions for Hong Kong Government, Cathay Pacific Airlines, Rolls Royce Ltd., TPFC Management Consultant, Coopers & Lybrand and Esso China Ltd. (Guangzhou). She moved to Princeville, Kauai, in late 1986 upon husband Murray's early retirement. Over the years, she studied Chinese brush paintings in Hong Kong under Professor Wu (HK University Extramural Program) in addition to taking private workshops with various artists in Hawaii.

Sabina's passion for painting started at an early age of 8 when one of her creations in class was selected for display at her elementary school for the entire year. It was not until she moved to Kauai that she managed to return to her "first love"! Kauai's natural beauty - the bounty of tropical sights, the flora and fauna, constant changing lights and vibrant colors offer distinct visions and inspiration that resonate in most of her paintings with different mediums.

Colors have an effect on most people's psyche whether they are aware of it or not. Everyone loves Spring because after a dull dreary cold Winter, a change of scenery of explosive new growth along with happy exciting arrays of hues and colors stimulate all senses and lift people's spirit. Sabina loves rainbows of colors and believes the healing power in the beauty of Nature with it's surrounding serenity. Nature has always been the greatest sources of creative inspiration which has generated countless artistic interpretations. Sabina takes full advantage of what Nature has to offer to create joyous exuberance in her artwork. Since picking up her painting brush again, she has been more focused on the shape, form, texture, smell and silhouette of colors.

Learning is a never ending process. With her frequent travels to the Far East, Sabina will seek out her favorite artists to take private workshops to improve her skills and techniques in painting.

In addition to painting, Sabina's fascination with jewelry developed in her teenage years. She enjoyed making her own pieces with beads and crystals which were admired and praised even by adults. As she grew up, she designed most of her jewelry with colorful gems and diamonds. Soon friends and colleagues would ask to copy her designs. The annual Hong Kong Jewelry Fair offers Sabina the perfect avenue to check out the latest style and source raw gemstones for later designs. The incomparable beauty of gems and the radiance of diamonds, designs borne of enduring femininity, elegance and glamour stimulate her creative juice, consequently turning this passion into a lifelong hobby. Thus she has accumulated enough pieces to share with ladies who admire her one of a kind designs.

As Sabina once remarked, "It is a blessing to be able to share my artwork and jewelry creations with all. I enjoy seeing the happy expressions on people's face when they look at my pieces which gives me great satisfaction knowing I can make a difference."
