About photographer and artist Mike Taylor
Mike was raised in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies of Alberta, where his childhood was highlighted by frequent explorations of the outdoors with friends and family. Upon receiving his Bachelor of Design from the University of Alberta in 2010 he started to look for ways that he could combine his passion for design with his love of the outdoors. This took him out west to the ski town of Whistler in British Columbia, where he pursued an internship with Origin Design + Communication (an ad agency that works exclusively in outdoor sports). From there, through a fortunate combination of hard work and helpful connections, he found the footing he needed to launch his career.
Now over a decade later, like the adaptive Whiskey Jack, he has embraced the glimmer of opportunity wherever it has arisen. This has led him on a journey that took him down to California, back to Canada, and now out east to Pennsylvania. Along the way he has gained valuable expertise in all sorts of settings, ranging from the full-service agency all the way to the dedicated in-house brand designer. He has had the opportunity to work with clients, both large and small, in a diverse range of industries. He still has a soft spot for the ‘outdoorsy’ lifestyle sorts of brands, but his experience has shown him a process of collaboration that he has found success with for any type of client.
