Angie Shippert is a dedicated wife and mom of three beautiful children, residing in Illinois. Her family’s roots run deep in farming. She and her husband, Brad, strive to embody their Christian faith in daily life. Angie met her husband, Brad, in 2016, marrying him after he faced the profound loss of his first wife to pancreatic cancer, becoming a devoted mom to his young daughter shortly after their wedding. Together, they welcomed two sons into their family.
The challenges in Angie’s life have shaped her resilience and compassion. In 2020, as the pandemic unfolded, her husband was diagnosed with leukemia. This led to Brad’s brave journey that included a stem cell transplant at the Mayo Clinic. While Brad underwent treatment away from home for 100 days, Angie balanced a full-time job and caring for their children, all while trying to support him through this difficult time. Today, they celebrate Brad’s full recovery and remission, a testament to their strength as a family and their faith in God.
Both Angie and Brad have navigated the loss of their fathers during their young adulthood, an experience that deepened their appreciation for community and mentorship. The parents of Brad’s late wife have stepped in as cherished mentors and grandparents to their children. God’s love in this situation illustrates the profound love and happiness that can emerge from embracing those who enter our lives unexpectedly.
Now, several years after this tumultuous health journey, Angie has returned to school to pursue a Juris Masters in Health. Her goal is to make a meaningful difference in her community by establishing a non-profit dedicated to protecting farmland from harmful wind and solar projects. With a heart for advocacy and a commitment to listening, Angie hopes to create positive change and support for those in need. She says that she is “incredibly grateful for this scholarship opportunity.”
