Reviews of Sawtelle Mountain Resort
"My family and I have stayed at the Sawtelle Mountain Resort several times. We hosted a family reunion in their cabins one year and just stayed in the Family Suite recently. There is plenty of space for everyone and it is only 20 minutes away from Yellowstone. We enjoyed renting a side by side at High Mountain Adventures (next door) and getting muddy! The breakfast in the hotel was quite good with tons of options. It is the perfect place to bring the family." - Jason H.
"This resort is great. Great continental breakfast, helpful and friendly staff, and centrally located to Yellowstone, (22 miles), Henry Lake is right there, floating on the Snake River, and the top of Sawtelle Mountain. I highly recommend and we will for sure be staying here again. One note, Richard the manager is the best!" - Kimberly D.
"My wife and I had a great visit at the Sawtelle Mountain Resort. The new lodge is beautiful. The room was beautifully and tastefully decorated with pictures of the area. the towels were large and soft, not the cheep things you find in most hotels. The staff was friendly and accommodated our late schedule. We couldn't have asked for a more pleasant and rejuvenating weekend." - James W.

ACTIVITIES NEARBY
- Yellowstone National Park: With steaming thermal features, incredible landscapes, and recreation opportunities for both the novice and the expert, Yellowstone in the winter and the fall is a trip of a lifetime. Yellowstone is known for incredible wildlife watching. This is even truer in winter, when wolves, fox, moose, elk, bison and other animals are more visible and majestic against a blanket of white snow. Further, Yellowstone’s colorful hot springs become even more vibrant against the snow, frost, and steam of the park’s geyser basins. During the fall you have the opportunity to visit as the leaves change color, experience less crowding, and have a better opportunity to view wildlife.
- West Yellowstone, MT: West Yellowstone, situated right outside the West Entrance of Yellowstone National Park, is a great town for shopping. You’ll find many boutiques, t-shirt shops, restaurants, tour operators, and more.
- Float, Raft, or Kayak in multiple lakes and rivers with varying degrees of difficulty from experienced to beginners.
- Enjoy many trail opportunities from just under a mile to over 12 miles. That can be hiked, rode on horseback, or on a Mountain Bike.
- Cross-country skiing: Enjoy the peace and tranquility of nature while getting a great workout on several beautiful trails in Island Park and West Yellowstone.
- Yellowstone NP Snowcoach Tour: The only way to access Yellowstone in winter is by way of snowcoach, snowmobile, cross-country skiing or snowshoeing. Visit the world's most concentrated geothermal area with knowledgeable local guides. Tours can include stops at Madison Junction, Fountain Paint Pot, Black Sand Basin and Biscuit Basin, and lots of wildlife stops. We also allow for lunch and sightseeing time at Old Faithful.
- Fishing: Henry’s Fork of the Snake River is famous for fly fishing and voted #1 stream in the country by Trout Unlimited. Tail-walking rainbows, mountain whitefish, and some big browns can be found under the ice. Henry’s Lake is probably the best ice-fishing spot in all of Idaho brimming with big cutthroats, rainbow-cutthroat hybrids and trophy brook trout.
- Snow Shoeing: Snowshoeing allows hiking enthusiasts to get out and explore during winter. Visit trails for hikers of all abilities in Island Park and West Yellowston.
