Artist's Statement

I use Oil on Canvas, I work Wet on Wet using Color paint directly from the tube, blending it on the canvas.  I like using strong outlines to emphasize a structural element of the work, I start with a pre-drawn idea and the work evolves as it is painted.

I have a hard time defining myself, because I feel that I am constantly evolving.   I love the use of color & pattern to evoke emotion.  I want my work to have an abstract quality yet have a structural imagery in it.  I feel that this helps people relate to the painting & aid in its emotional quality.

Paintings should surprise, I work with Oil due to its sensual qualities and my work is surreal.   My Artwork can have a sense of humor & is inspired by nature & personal experience.  I’m an avid distance Runner, ideas & images often come to me as I run.  When I get back home, I try to re-create the images & later paint them.

Artist Biography

I was born in Chicago, Illinois.  Since my Teen years, I had interest in many different forms of Art, from Oil Painting to Wood Carvings & Wire Art.  I began college at DePaul University (Chicago) as an Art major, however,  I learned that I would need a solid job to survive, I changed Majors & became a Registered Nurse.  Upon retiring, I have pursued my love of Art full time.

In 2008, we moved from Chicago to the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. We now live Full-time in Bokeelia on Pine Island, Florida, where I have my Art Studio.

While living in Colorado, I had success selling Wood Carvings, Paintings & Wire Sculptures at various local stores & Studios. I am now Represented by Galleries in both South Florida & North Carolina, Showing/Selling my ArtWork at various Fine Art Festivals.

When I’m not Painting,  I spend my time running in various Ultra Running events (100 mile races) in locations across the USA.
