Jan Griffin was born in 1929 in Youngstown, Ohio. She attended Kent State University and then moved to West Virginia to study at Marshall University. Griffin was among the first of artist/designers to explore silk screen printing and soon serigraphy became her most desired medium. Her work comes from drawings that she produces based on her personal relationships with the world around her. Line and color both play large roles in her work and how her subjects are expressed to the viewers.
