About the Artist:
Miranda Thomas is a renowned potter based in Vermont, whose work is collected worldwide by celebrities, dignitaries, and art enthusiasts alike. Born in New York and raised in Italy, Australia, and England, Thomas was introduced to pottery at age 16 and later apprenticed with master potter Michael Cardew CBE, among others.

Her pottery has been chosen as diplomatic gifts for President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, UN Secretary Generals Ban Ki Moon and Kofi Annan, and former President Bill Clinton’s gift to Pope John Paul II. Her designs are inspired by the English countryside, as well as global artistic traditions, including Japanese, Middle Eastern, and Aboriginal patterns.

Thomas received her B.A. in Ceramics from the West Surrey College of Art & Design in England and began her U.S. career designing Simon Pearce’s first pottery lines. She and her husband, furniture maker Charles Shackleton, co-own Shackleton Thomas, where they create handmade works of enduring beauty, character, and soul.
