Item Description
The 2019 Opus One is a standout vintage from one of Napa Valley’s most prestigious wineries —a joint venture between two wine legends: Robert Mondavi of California and Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Château Mouton Rothschild in Bordeaux. This collaboration, founded in 1978, merges Old World winemaking elegance with New World power and fruit expression.
Opus One is always a Bordeaux-style blend, and in 2019 it consists of:
78% Cabernet Sauvignon
8% Petit Verdot
6% Merlot
6% Cabernet Franc
2% Malbec
This blend emphasizes structure and ageability (from Cabernet Sauvignon) with subtle layeringand finesse from the other varietals.
2019 was a great vintage in Napa Valley. It had:
A cool, wet winter which helped with water reserves.
A mild spring with good flowering and fruit set.
A relatively moderate summer, allowing grapes to ripen slowly and evenly.
Harvest began in mid-September and finished by mid-October—ideal for flavor development and phenolic ripeness.
