Item Description
The mixed case of 12 bottles from Quantum Limit Vineyards will include 6 bottles of our Il Maremanno Chardonnay and 6 bottles of 2021 Twenty Eight Blocks Cabernet Sauvignon.
2022 Il Maremanno Chardonnay sourced from the Carneros region of Napa Valley. Not your typical Napa Chardonnay, made more in the classic burgundian style chardonnay with beautiful balance, texture and natural acidity.
Winemaker Julien Fayard says it's "A beautiful textural chardonnay with ripe peach and lemon curd, classic Carneros lychee and pear, white flowers, and with a hint of grilled almonds and vanilla. I see this wine standing up to a stir fried wok spicy lobster or pairing beautifully with a more delicate dish such as Dungeness crab and avocado on melba toast."
2021 Twenty Eight Blocks Cabernet Sauvignon
Twenty months in new French oak, moderate toast. This vintage of Twenty Eight Blocks was blended with 1% Petit Verdot and 3% Merlot. Extremely supple, with beautiful notes of crème de cassis, dried violets, mineral, and loam, utterly seamless, elegant, and delicate. Toasted cacao numbs, the inevitable touch of rich licorice and leather that is ever so prevalent in this vineyard, black cherry, and excellent tannin structure makes this wine built for the long haul.
Winemaker Julien Fayard says "Pure cabernet, from a combination of hillsides, the 2021 vintage exudes rich ripe cherry and sweet round tannins. Under the cherry texture, the ripeness combined with the 100% French oak barrel brings a black backbone or dark fruit laced elegantly. Powerful structure feels the palate and leaves hints of spices and blue fruit."
Quantum Limit is a 69-acre sprawling mountainside ranch located in the Howell Cordillera, specifically the southern end of the Howell Mountains in the southeastern corner of Napa Valley. The Howell Mountains begin just northwest of St. Helena at the Howell Mountain sub-appellation and extend south to Vallejo just north of the estuary of where the Sacramento River flows into the San Francisco Bay. To the southwest, Quantum Limit has breathtaking views of the two highest summits in the Howell Mountains, Twin Sisters (northern peak 2,259 ft and southern 2,177 ft), To the east the Estate is buttressed by another of the many Coastal Ranges of California, the Vaca Mountains, and its Blue Ridge crest (average elevation 1900 ft). To the south are striking views of the highest peak in the Bay Area, Mt. Diablo (elevation 3849 ft), with the San Francisco Bay in the foreground. The climate is Mediterranean with long dry summer and autumn seasons, with gentle breezes and periodic cooling evening fog from the San Francisco Bay, with an average of 35 inches of rainfall during the winter and spring.
The ranch encompasses a 25-acre vineyard that is bifurcated into twenty-eight separate and unique mountainside vineyard blocks that are straddling a southern Howell Mountain Range bench, largely west-southwest facing. The property is within the Napa Valley AVA, directly east of Coombsville and south of Atlas Peak sub-appellations. At the southwestern base of Quantum Limit lies Wooden Valley, and on the northeast side is Gordon Valley, two bucolic agricultural jewels of the Napa Valley AVA. The vineyard is planted to both Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc varietals that straddle the volcanic hillside from 260 and 900 feet in elevation.
