Item Description
"A Butch in Search of Happily Ever After" is a painting done in digital media by artist Jessica Burke. It has an image size of 7.375" x 9.375". The artwork is matted in white and placed inside a 13.5" x 16.5" black wooden frame.
About the Artist: For Jessica Burke, her paintings are a means of communication, a meditation on identity and persona. Her paintings portray figurative allegories of experience, thought, and emotion. They allow her to express her reaction to issues about gender and sexuality, specifically concentrating on the idea of femininity. Her intent is to clarify her questions and define her assertions about the fundamental role of femininity in today's reality.
Her images are inspired by the experiences that are considered fundamentally opposed to the “accepted parameters” given to us by popular culture. We are constantly bombarded with the imbedded associations of popular culture's imagery. They operate as a teaching device, telling us what to think, how to look, what to believe and who to support.
