Item Description

Yellow Paintbrush Brooch created by Kimberly Keyworth

This piece was made using fabricated sterling silver and 22 karat gold and incorporates colorful torch-fired enamels. A foxtail chain is included to convert the brooch to a neckpiece. Keyworth’s work was featured in the book "The Art of Enameling" by Linda Darty, a copy of which is included with the brooch and signed by Keyworth herself.

All of Keyworth’s jewelry is made in her studio in Oakland, California. Each piece is either one-of-a-kind or part of a limited edition series and is signed and stamped with a registered hallmark. In both her enameling and metalwork, Keyworth explores the relationship between color, pattern and surface texture. She is influenced by the design, pattern and form of African artifacts, textiles and masks, decorative motifs from Pre-Columbian Mexico and repetitive patterns and textures found in nature. She is interested in the cross-cultural use of symbols such as “x”s, crossed, spirals, repeating dot and line patterns, and mandala-like circles with images and/or patterns that radiate from a center-point. Kimberly Keyworth is primarily self-taught and has been exhibiting her work nationally since 1985.

Approximately 2-1/4" x 2-1/4".

Both the brooch and book have been donated by Kimberly Keyworth.
