Burr and Burton Academy is an independent school that serves the public. Our mission is to educate students intellectually and morally for a life of responsibility, integrity and service. Founded in 1829, we serve as the public high school (grades 9 ??A?A? 12) for thirteen towns in southern Vermont, accept all students from those towns, and commit to providing an outstanding educational opportunity to every student. Each town pays the tuition of $15,900, which covers roughly 90 percent of the cost to educate a student. As with most public schools, our student body is diverse socioeconomically, with roughly 25 percent of our students qualifying for free and reduced lunch. Our educational results are extraordinary when compared to other schools in Vermont, which ranks Burr and Burton Academy in the top five percent of all schools nationally. Burr and Burton continues to achieve outstanding results in many different areas. Our educational results speak for themselves when compared to other schools in Vermont, with highlights including: ??A?A?
