Item Description

The winning bidder will work with Merry to create a round bead in small, medium or large, with a sterling silver chain.  Every bead is handmade with care and respect. Ash Beads are a timeless momento, in the form of a beautiful glass bead with ashes embedded in the design.

Have you ever longed for something that you can wear or carry with you that is a part of someone or a pet that you loved and lost? Merry Coor, owner of Talisman Beads in Eureka, has generously donated a gift certificate so that she can personally create an Ash Bead for you with your loved one's ashes.

Each Ash Bead is unique. The Round Beads are completely round like a ball. Merry's signature ash "Swirl" design is on opposite curves of the round bead, connected by a line of ash.

The sizes are:
Small = 1/2" diameter, or 12.71mm, about the size of a cooked garbanzo bean.
Medium = 5/8" diameter, or 15.875mm, about the size of a standard marble.
Large = 3/4" diameter, or 19.05mm, about the size of a cherry tomato.

Merry’s Process
"Each of these memorial Ash Beads are custom made with the ashes of your lost loved one.

I make each of these beautiful keepsake beads by hand, one at a time. I use a torch, and rods of special, colored, silvered glass. The glass is melted and formed into a round bead. The ashes are incorporated into a spiral design on the bead, then the entire design is sealed in a clear layer of glass. The ash becomes part of the bead and can always be kept close. Bead caps and head pins finish the bead into a pendant.

The colors are ethereal, like a planet or a universe, or the infinite heavens. Each individual bead is a unique and lasting gift – just like the memories of your loved one."
